I'm Courtney, am an American from Chicago (but who lived in the greater-Detroit area) for 3+ years. I'm also a supposed nemesis of yours (being a Michigan State grad that is)! Anyway, I was doing a search today after my Japanese language course of Tofu in Tokyo (where to buy, how to prepare, etc), and for some reason your blog came up! Naturally, as soon as I saw the UofM pics my curiosity heightened, and I read your entries. How cool that you have been witness to the G8 summit and various other politically connected events while in Japan. I work for Elections for Chicago and Cook County, and am here on a sabbatical of sorts. I'd love to get more involved, and have been looking for various volunteer opportunities, but haven't received much response... possibly because I speak little-to-no Japanese?
